Psychotherapy

What To Expect At Your First Individual Counseling Session

If you're ready to try psychotherapy for the first time, you're taking the first step toward improving your life. While this can be exciting, it can also be scary. The thought of sharing your personal thoughts with a new person can be intimidating, to say the least. The good news: I am non-judgmental, here to help, and truly invested in helping you find happiness.

At your first individual counseling session, we’ll mainly spend some time getting to know you better. In this way, I can get a picture of your overall life, and where you aren’t happy with the way things are right now. The more honestly and completely you answer each question, the better poised I will be to help you through your issues.

From there, we’ll discuss what you'd like to get out of therapy, and begin creating a plan for your sessions moving forward. Not everyone goes through individual counseling in the same way, or the same speed, and that’s okay. Your journey to better mental health is yours alone, and you can feel confident you have a voice in directing the way your sessions play out.

If you have any questions for me, don't hesitate to ask ahead of time. Starting psychotherapy can feel a little scary, but you're doing the right thing to improve your life and your mental health.
